It hasn’t happened yet, but if an entertainer fails to show up for an IVI Destination Management event, the client group could be lucky enough to have Lucia Llamas on the IVI team.  Because Lucia is a former professional singer and she easily could step onto the stage and start earning applause.

Ms. Llamas was born in La Cruz in Sinaloa, and starting while she was in school in Jojutla she was a featured singer and part of the chorus for the well-known Javier Avilez Show.  Lucia discovered she has a knack for languages, and graduated from Centro Universitario Angloamericano in Cuernavaca with teaching degrees and interpreter-translator diplomas in English and French to Spanish.

Before becoming part of the hospitality industry, Ms. Llamas worked as a private language tutor in Cuernavaca and Jojutla, and as an English teacher at Zacatepec High School.  She added to her education later by becoming an accredited tourist guide for the Los Cabos tourism area.

Lucia started in the MICE industry in sales and operations with a DMC in Cuernavaca, and then worked in sales and public relations positions for another DMC in San Jose del Cabo.

Now her many talents are at home with IVI Destination Management in Los Cabos.  In her leisure time, Ms. Llamas enjoys reading and relaxing at the beach, and spending as much time as possible with her son and family.

Personal Favorites

Local Attraction – Because Los Cabos offers so many activities for people to enjoy, my preference may seem unusual. But my favorite is the beautiful desert with its unique flora and fauna. This is a special experience because from there, you can enjoy spectacular views of the ocean. And our sunrises and sunsets are always magical and unforgettable.

Recreational Activity – Depends on the mood I’m in. Beachcombing, venturing into the desert, or visiting our friendly dolphins are all great. I’m learning golf, so with all our great golf courses there’s nowhere better to enjoy this great game.

Favorite Restaurant -- My favorite restaurant is Casiano´s in San José del Cabo. It’s a unique fine-dining experience, because there’s no menu. You are asked if you are allergic to anything, and then small plates of superb food start appearing. The chef creates these mini-masterpieces according to what inspires him, and what fresh ingredients are available that day. And the sommelier will suggest wines that complement the chef’s “creations du jour.” It’s not just different – it’s an amazing dining experience.

Local Tour – I like getting out into nature, so my favorite tour in Los Cabos is the 4X4 Desert Safari. It’s an exciting ride, and their certified guides taking you through the desert and past waterfalls are very knowledgeable, and tell you about the things that grow there and the creatures that call the area their home. The adventure concludes at a ranch for a homemade lunch that features organic products.

Local Event – The turtle release (from August to October) and the whale watching (from January to March) are the local events that I do not miss. Being in touch with nature and those amazing animals is a great way to enjoy the magical beauty of this place
