By education, experience and temperament, Genaro Almonte is a perfect fit to manage operations for IVI clients conducting events in the Dominican Republic.

Born in Santo Domingo, Mr. Almonte earned a foreign language degree from the Universidad Technologica de Santiago.  As a big believer in continuing education, he also received a travel agent degree and an information technology degree from technical institutions.  And he currently is pursuing an MBA in business administration.

Genaro began his career by teaching French and English to employees of the Barcelo Bavaro Resort.   He’s been in the hospitality industry ever since, earning positions of increasing responsibility.  His history includes Viajes Barcelo/Turavia in operations, and then Apple Vacations operations manager for Premiere Tours.

Almonte was promoted to destination manager for the Dominican Republic for Amstar in addition to overseeing Apple Vacations programs in Mexico and the Dominican Republic.
 
He then managed operations in Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica for Metamorphosis Spas, followed by management of tour operators for Cocotours before joining IVI Destination Management.

On the personal front, Genaro loves spending as much time as possible with his five-year-old daughter.  He also sponsors a child through the Children International program, and is on the parents’ association board of directors for his local school.

Almonte enjoys soft rock music from the 1980’s, and as a Dominican loves baseball.  His favorite teams are the local nine, Las Aguilas, and the St. Louis Cardinals.   He says he’s learned from all his professional experiences that teamwork is the key to success for most organizations, and this is especially true in the dynamic and detail-oriented world of destination management.
